Wood owl refers to several species of owls of genus Strix, with a round faces and no ear-tufts.
Under Brown wood owl, Strix leptogrammica it’s a sub species.Himalayan wood owl, Strix (leptogrammica) newarensis.
The Himalayan Wood Owl is a fairly large owl with no ear-tufts. Some authors name this species the Mountain Wood Owl.
