The Eurasian wigeon, also known as widgeon or Eurasian widgeon (Anas penelope, and sometimes Mareca penelope) is one of three species of wigeon in the dabbling duck genus Anas. It is common and widespread within its range. It breeds in the northernmost areas of Europe and Asia.
This dabbling duck is 42–52 cm (17–20 in) long with a 71–80 cm (28–31 in) wingspan, and a weight of 500–1,073 g (1.102–2.366 lb). The breeding male has grey flanks and back, with a black rear end, a dark green speculum and a brilliant white patch on upper wings, obvious in flight or at rest. It has a pink breast, white belly, and a chestnut head with a creamy crown. In non-breeding (eclipse) plumage, the drake looks more like the female. The female is light brown.
The Eurasian wigeon is a bird of open wetlands, such as wet grassland or marshes with some taller vegetation, and usually feeds by dabbling for plant food or grazing, which it does very readily. It nests on the ground, near water and under cover. It is highly gregarious outside of the breeding season and will form large flocks.
This is a noisy species. The male has a clear whistle that sounds like: "pjiew pjiew", whereas the female has a low growl : "rawr".

Photograph of Mr. Debapratim Saha ]... ইউরেশীয় উইজীয়ন বা শুধু উইজীয়ন ( Anas penelope, কখনও কখনও Mareca penelope) ড্যাব্লিং ডাক Anas মহাজাতির হাঁসদের মধ্যে থাকা তিন প্রজাতির একটি প্রজাতি । এরা সাধারণভাবে খুবই চেনা একটি হাঁস যাদের ইউরোপ এবং এশিয়ার উত্তরদিকের এলাকায় ব্যাপকভাবে দেখতে পাওয়া যায়। 
42-52 সেমি (17-20 ইঞ্চি) দীর্ঘ হয়। 71-80 সেমি ( 28-31ইঞ্চি) পাখার প্রসারতা । 500-1,073 গ্রাম (1.102-2.366 পাউণ্ড) ওজন হয় । প্রজননসক্ষম পুরুষের পালকের উপরিভাগ ধূসর রঙ এর। লেজের শেষ ভাগ কালো, গাঢ় সবুজ ভুরু এবং উপরের পাখনার উপর একটি উজ্জ্বল সাদা প্যাচ থাকে। বুকের রঙে গোলাপী আভা, সাদা পেট, এবং মাখন রঙা মস্তকাবরণ সাথেই মাথা থেকে গলা পর্যন্ত বাদামী রং এর হয়। মেয়ে হাঁসদের বাদামী রঙ অনেক হালকা।
ইউরেশীয় উইজীয়ন ভেজা তৃণভূমি বা বেশি পরিমাণে লম্বা গাছপালা যুক্ত খোলা জলাভূমি পছন্দ করে বসবাসের জন্য। এরা জলের কাছাকাছি এবং ঝোপ ঝাড়ে ঢাকা জমিতে বাসা বানায়। প্রজননকাল ছাড়া অন্য সময়ে দল বানিয়ে বসবাস করতে পছন্দ করে।
এরা চিৎকার চ্যাঁচামেচি প্রিয় প্রজাতি । পুরুষ পাখিদের আওয়াজ স্পষ্ট বাঁশির মত "pjiew pjiew" ধরনের শব্দ। মেয়ে পাখিরা চাপা "Rawr" ধরনের আওয়াজ করে।
