CRESTED
BUNTING....... (Melophus lathami) is a species of bird
in the Emberizidae family, from South and Southeast Asia. It is usually
considered monotypic in its genus, but some taxonomists place it in the genus
Emberiza.
It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Burma, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland.
This species has an extremely large range, and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion (Extent of Occurrence <20,000 km2 combined with a declining or fluctuating range size, habitat extent/quality, or population size and a small number of locations or severe fragmentation).
